Preparing for an Interview
Here are some tips and tricks when preparing for an interview:
- Research the industry and company.
- Understand your reasoning: Why do you want the job? Why do you want to work for this company and/or in this industry?
- Bring extra copies of your resume.
- Anticipate the interviewer's questions and concerns and understand the next steps in the process.
- Put a list of questions together.
- Practice, practice, practice.
- For virtual interviews, make sure that you look polished and professional, test your internet connection at least 10 minutes before the start of the interview, and join the call at least 5 minutes before
- Be assertive and take responsibility for the interview.
- Think positive.
- Show creativity and work ethic.
- Send thank you notes.

Virtual Interviews
- Make sure you look polished and professional.
- Check the interview platform and ensure you have it downloaded and/or that it is updated.
- Use a virtual background or ensure that you are in a clean area of your living space.
- Make sure you are in a quiet area. Using noise cancelling headphones or ear buds is always a good idea to help eliminate external noises.
- Test your internet connection and sound 15 minutes before the start of the interview.
- Join at least 5 minutes before the start of the interview.
- Make "eye contact" with your webcam.
- Stay focused and visibly engaged!
- Send a thank you email.
